One thing that I hear often living on the West side of Wichita is that there is nothing to do – that everything fun is in the center or east side of Wichita.
And that simply isn’t true.
Although Maize might be a small town on the West side, the Maize Recreation Commission still has plenty of amazing activities and summer camps for kids of all ages and interests (plus summer activities and classes for adults – check here.)

GOTR Camp Girls Have Power

Grade: must be entering grades 3 – 5 during the 2021 – 2022 school year.

Ultimate Summer Camp
Week of June 21 – 25

Campers will travel around the world while playing games, making crafts, cooking, and having lots of fun! Campers will design and make a camp T-shirt. Pack a lunch to enjoy at the park each day. Snacks will be made during daily activities.

Project Runway Sewing Camp
Week of July 26 – 30
M – F 9:00 am – Noon
Grades: 4 – 8
Campers will make a top, skirt, and fashion accessories. A list of supplies and materials
for the projects will be sent out once the participant enrolls in the class. Sewing machines can be borrowed during the week; if arrangements are made with the instructor. Machines are limited. Bring your own snack and water to camp each day.

Explore your creative side by making a variety of arts and crafts that you can display, wear, and use. Campers will use a variety of mediums such as paper, paint, clay, fabric, metal, and nature. Pack a lunch to enjoy at the park each day. Snacks will be provided/made.

Esports Camp

Two Week Camp
Grade: Completed 6th 2020/2021 – Entering Senior Year 2021/2022
Location: Maize Complete High School Esports Lab
Fee: $250.00 includes, jersey, one snack daily and tournament play.
*participants must bring a lunch & drink.
This camp will be educational and recreational, geared towards ALL SKILL LEVELS. Focus will be on team based play with the intention of gaming growth. Final day of camp will be dedicated to tournament play. Friends and family welcome.

FUN Stations
Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00 am – Noon

Ms. CoCo and Ms. Lindsey are offering a FUN class at Maize Early Childhood Center, through Maize Rec this summer. Drop your child off for activities that include music time, center activities, snack, story time and recess each day. Each week there will be a new special theme. The themed centers will include sensory exploration, art activities, fine and gross motor activities and more. We will also encourage healthy social behavior skills that are so important for school. A FREE book will be given to each child to take home on Thursdays! USD 266 COVID protocol will be enforced and masks will be required until further notice.
