Meet a Mom: Elisabeth Goebel of ICT Lactation - Sedgwick County Moms Network

According to the CDC, 60% of mothers do not breastfeed for as long as they intend to. I was one of those, with both of my children. That’s why I’m so glad that Elisabeth is here to help Wichita moms in their breastfeeding journeys with her company, ICT Lactation.

How many kids do you have and what are their ages?

We have 2 amazing daughters! Sydney will be 10 in August and Delaney will be 6 in July!

Where are you originally from and what brought you to Wichita?

Both my husband and I are born and raised in Wichita, KS 🙂

What does your family like to do around Wichita?

Our favorites include: Picnics at Sedgwick County Zoo, Tanganyika, and Botanica! Splash pads in the summer.

Tell us about your business, ICT Lactation.

I opened ICT Lactation in 2019 when I saw there was a need in our community for in-home breastfeeding support! I built my business up to be the support that I would have loved to have with each of my girls. In October 2020, I opened a home office and made it as comfy as we could to give moms that homelike feel in an office space. My goal with my business is to be the best support to moms no matter what their feeding journey with their little one is. I primarily focus on breastfeeding but I do a lot of bottle feeding, supplementing, and exclusively pumping consultations. I am here for it all!

How do you juggle being a business owner and a mom?

I am not going to lie and say it has been easy but I will say it has been an adventure. My husband and girls absolutely support me as I grow my business and my girls LOVE when they get to sneak a peek at a baby in my office! My Google calendar has saved me on a lot of occasions keeping my business in one color and all family activities in another color!

What is your best mom hack?

Always keep something fast and easy in the freezer or pantry to make on those days when it’s just been crazy or too much! The girls favorite easy meal is pasta, they could eat it every day!

What is the hardest part about being a mom?

Feeling like there is enough of me to go around for everyone. I struggle a lot with feeling like I didn’t give my all on some days or wondering if I spent enough quality time with one or the other of our girls. It’s just hard sometimes.

What is your least favorite chore?

Tie between dishes and FOLDING the laundry!

What is your favorite non-mom activity?

Reading. Hands down one of my favorite things to do! I go through at least 100 books a year!

What is the best piece of advice another mom gave you?

“You are enough.”

It’s really hard to remember that sometimes and focus on what you didn’t do during the day or how busy you were that you didn’t feel like you gave it your all… but my girls don’t seem to remember those moments, they remember all the snuggles and little things that I didn’t even realize, at the time, how special they were to the girls.

What can local Wichita moms do to help your business during this pandemic season?

Please share my business information as a resource to all moms, not just new moms! Even seasoned moms, with 2+ children, can use me for support and questions! Plus each baby is different!
