An personal injury attorney, a marketing director, a boy mom, a wife, and a mom-life hack blogger…is there anything this mom doesn’t do? Let’s meet Camie Drumright.

Meet a Local Wichita Mom:
Camie Drumright of Mom Life Simplified

How many kids do you have and what are their ages?

I have 3 boys ranging in age from 8-14.

Where are you originally from and what brought you to Wichita?

I grew up in surrounding areas, Valley Center and Derby. After attending KU for a bit, I ended up returning to Wichita to go to college with my boyfriend (now husband) who was playing baseball at Wichita State. We left Wichita to go to law school and then returned to start our law careers and a family.

What does your family like to do around Wichita?

As you can imagine, with three boys, we are active. We attend Wichita State baseball and basketball games and are looking forward to the Wind Surge season. We also enjoy the zoo, Botanica and love going to Chicken-n-Pickle. During the pandemic, we found a new love for Santa Fe Lake.

Tell us about your business.

Mom Life Simplified is a Facebook page and blog where I post things intended to save busy women time, money and energy. I share cool product finds, great sale alerts and tips & tricks to simplify your life. I post meal ideas, projects to do with the family, organizational tips as well as things we use around our house that make our lives better. My primary career, however, is a personal injury attorney and marketing director at the Law Offices of Morris Laing in Old Town Square. We are a full-service law firm founded in Wichita over 75 years ago.

How do you juggle being a business owner and a mom?

It can be tough, and sometimes it’s not as pretty as I would like. I would say a lot of late nights and early mornings (and I’m not a morning person!). Good time management skills and lots of help with the kids from grandparents and family is the only way we have survived.

What is your best mom hack?

Weekend menu planning and online grocery ordering for pick-up is my biggest mom hack. Dinner is my most dreaded part of the day, as I am getting home from work and then shuttling kids to practices, helping with homework and getting ready for the next day. It’s such a busy time…knowing exactly what we are going to have for dinner and having the ingredients on-hand helps make my week smoother.

What is the hardest part about being a mom?

For me, the hardest part is slowing down enough to truly enjoy every moment. When the kids were younger, I was always thinking about the next adventure, project, trip, holiday, etc. As my kids are growing up, I am working on mindfulness and trying to live by the motto, less is more. Do less things, but enjoy them more.

What is your least favorite chore?

I do not like ironing and I am terrible at it!

What is your favorite non-mom activity?

I love shopping for sales and decorating spaces.  I have a nightgown that says, “Shopping is My Cardio” and that is very fitting for me.  I’m not a huge fan of cardio – I would much rather shop;) I love taking spaces and making them functional and beautiful!

What is the best piece of advice another mom gave you?

Tuck your kids into bed for as long as you can. The comfort of their beds is where stories, worries and things they might not tell you in the light of day seem to flow freely.

What can local Wichita moms do to help your business during this pandemic season?

The pandemic is what allowed me to take a leap of faith and start this “business” that had been on my heart for some time. Following my page on Facebook and my blog, sharing it with your friends and commenting so I know what sorts of things you are most interested in is how you can help me grow my page and ensure I am posting information that helps to simplify your life! I earn a commission on some of the links I post, so purchasing through those links is very helpful too!!
